Summer Camps: Library Instruction

Meeting your needs

Affiliated Groups
Belk Library & Information Commons will take requests for library instruction for affiliated-ASU groups that participate in summer programs such as Summer Ventures, Upward Bound, and University Recreation. Every effort will be made to accommodate requests for library instruction.  However, we reserve the right to decline a request if there are scheduling conflicts, or insufficient notification time or staffing to make the necessary arrangements.

Email Ken Johnson (johnsnkw@appstate.edu) to discuss instruction scheduling options.

Please keep in mind the following when making instruction requests:

  • Requests for instruction should be made a minimum of 3- 4 days in advance of the desired date.
  • Instruction sessions are held in Belk Library's electronic classrooms.
  • Groups of up to 30 students per visit can be accommodated in our largest classroom. Special accommodations may need to be made for groups larger than 30 students.
  • Class teachers will need to provide information on the students' expected research in advance so that the librarian working with your class can prepare for your visit.
  • Library instruction sessions include an overview of the library web page and demonstration of the library catalog and online databases. Instruction sessions are typically one hour in duration.
  • Students will be given an opportunity for hands-on research time during the session.
