Scholarly Communication

Scholarly communication is the system scholars and researchers employ to create, distribute, use, and preserve their work. Traditionally, this has occurred through scholars submitting papers to scholarly journals.  The papers are reviewed by experts in the field and a decision is made whether to publish the article.  LIbraries have been central to this system by subscribing to and storing paper journals.  With the advent of online publishing and the availability of data archiving, the paper system model is increasingly out-dated and new models, stressing free access to information are being developed.  Please visit the Library's Scholarly Communication website for more information.
