Internationalization at the University Libraries: Fudan Exchange

Fudan Appalachian Librarian Exchange Program (FALEP) 2009-2012

The Fudan-Appalachian Library Exchange Program (FALEP) agreement allowed for an exchange librarian from Fudan to be in residence at Appalachian, and an Appalachian librarian to be in residence at Fudan University Library for 1-6 months each year. The exchange began in August of 2009 and continued  four years. This exchange allowed for the exploration of librarianship in an international context and promoted the sharing of ideas about library services and scholarly communications.

2009-2010 Exchange

In Fall 2009 ASU librarian Megan Johnson (in pink) was the first exchange librarian in the Fudan-Appalachian Library Exchange Program (FALEP). She spent five weeks learning about Chinese academic libraries, and sharing information on Belk Library and Information's information literacy program and services. In spring and summer 2010, Ms. Weihua Shi (pictured in blue) was in residence at ASU for 5 months. She visited several UNC system libraries, (Chapel Hill, NC State, UNCG, A&T) and also visited Duke University Library.
