Building Science: Books

Find Books, Media, and More

The library catalogs below identify materials available locally as well as throughout the country, and are good starting points for research.

Library Catalog

Search the Library Catalog to find books, recommended web sites, films, government publications, and other sources of information on your topic. The topics listed on the Where Do I Start tab at the top of this library guide are good starting search points.

Select the Books & Media search option on the Library catalog home page, then pick the Subject or Keyword search options in the drop down menu.

You can refine your search by limiting the results. For instance, you can limit to items at ASU, to recent publications, or to web sites only. Click on the Modify Search tab at the top of the results page.

WorldCat

WorldCat lists the holdings of libraries around the world. You can limit the result by year, format, or other factors to tighten up your search.

Sample subject headings:

construction industry -- management

sustainable buildings -- design and construction

project management

building

Citing Your Sources

A citation is a record of where you encountered a certain idea. Citing your sources helps other scholars track down resources they find of interest. Proper citation helps us all build on our knowledge.

Universal Design

Universal design includes a number of ideas on designing and producing buildings, products, and environments that are accessible to people regardless of age or disability. For some views on using universal design, have a look at:

Universal Design Handbook. 2d ed. NA2545 A1 U55 2011. Volume is accompanied by a cd.
