Types of poetry resources for children include:
- Mother Goose and other nursery rhyme books
- Poetry anthologies featuring the works of several poets in one volume
- Themed poetry collections
- Single illustrated poems

Questions to Ask When Evaluating Works of Poetry

Are the work's words carefully chosen? Are they successful at capturing readers' imagination and feelings?

Is the book's language precise and rhythmic?

Is the language presented on the page in an aesthetically pleasing manner?

Do illustrations add to the book's mood without overwhelming the words?
