The Instructional Materials Center (IMC) is a model Pre-k through 12 school library. We strive to have a diverse collection of materials and resources. Physical materials are available for check out to online and distance education students.
Things to know:
The IMC is located on the lower level of Belk Library on the Boone campus.
We have a number of literacy materials in the main shelving, but some are kept in room 031 (next to Fred the Bear). If you would like to view the materials in the Literacy Room please email an education librarian or ask at the IMC service desk.
We have many additional collections to browse and borrow from for projects, lesson planning, and field experiences.
Topic lists covering award winning titles, genres, and themes are available on the IMC website Book Lists tab.
This PDF is an extensive list of leveled readers available in the IMC. These materials are shelved with the picture books, in our fiction shelves, and sometimes in the non-fiction shelves. You may also access this list by scanning the QR code on the sample bucket of leveled readers on top of the IMC lower shelving.
“Leveled Readers” is not a term that is applied consistently in the library catalog, so it can be tricky to search for this type of book.
Here are some suggestions for search terms to use:
Title = I like to read or I like to read comics
Title = I can read book or An I can read book or My first I can read book
Title = Ready-to-read or Ready-to-read Level 1 (Level 2, etc.)
Title = Hello reader or Hello reader Level 1 (Level 2, etc.)
