Summer Residents & the IMC: 2023

Welcome!

On this page you will find children's and youth resources available in the Instructional Materials Center related to gardening, growing food, and nature that support the Belk Distinguished Lecture Event featuring Vivian Howard. The event will be held on July 14 from 2-3:30 pm at the Grandview Ballroom. Resources will be on display all summer on the lower level of Belk Library by the back windows. Limited materials to make your own nature book are available at the display.

Community Borrower Cards

Please come visit and check out some books. For $10 you can recieve a community borrower card.

Residents of North Carolina or part-time residents who own property are eligible for a library card. You must be 18 years or older and live in the following counties:

  • Ashe
  • Avery
  • Burke
  • Caldwell
  • Catawba
  • Watauga
  • Wilkes

Appalachian State University alumni, regardless of place of residence are also eligible.

The following are not eligible:

  • Minors
  • Elementary and high school students
  • Dependents of Appalachian State University employees

More information is available on the library website. Bring your picture ID and stop by the Library Service Desk on the main floor of Belk Library to speak with a staff member and fill out an application. We approve cards during regular operating hours.
