Description of Six Sigma/Quality Management

Six Sigma and Quality Management are important concepts for managers to adopt in their organizations to improve competitiveness in the global economy. Continuously improving quality and customer satisfaction is essential for both service and manufacturing organizations. This course will cover topics on quality management systems, quality conformance, Six Sigma systems, organizing for Six Sigma, selecting winning Six Sigma projects, leading a Six Sigma project team through DMAIC (Define the problem, Measure the defects and process, Analyze the data, Improve the process, and Control the process), and Six Sigma tools for “defining the problem”, “measuring the defects and process”, analyzing the data”, “improving the process”, and “controlling the process.” Statistical methods for Six Sigma and Quality Management will be discussed, including: quality assurance measurement, reliability, process control charts, and sampling techniques. Real-world applications of Quality Management techniques will be demonstrated through business cases.
