The Sam Bass Collection

The materials in this collection were donated by Denise Bass, wife of renowned motorsports artist Sam Bass, following his death in 2019. See the sources in the box to the left for information on Sam's life and career.

The collection includes images Sam used as research for his distinctive art work, as well as posters and race program covers he designed.

Click on the tabs at the top of the page to see lists of materials in the Sam Bass Collection. The Collection is housed in the Closed Collection of the Stock Car Racing Collection in the Special Collections Department, located on the fourth floor of Belk Library at Appalachian State University. To view the materials in the Collection, consult a staff member. If you plan to visit the Stock Car Racing Collection to use the materials, it is best to call ahead (828-262-4041) so that the items you are interested in will have already been gathered for you.
