T. Taylor Warren (1925-2008) was a well respected motor sports photographer. He began taking photos at races at Milwaukee Fairgrounds in 1948 and continued covering the sport into the early 21st century. This collection contains prints, negatives, and slides of photographs he took at races primarily in the southeast. One of his most famous pictures was of the photo finish at the first Daytona 500 in 1959. His photograph helped determine that Johnny Beauchamp just edged out Lee Petty for the win.
Also included in the collection are race programs, press kits, driver cards, awards, Warren biography information, memorabilia, and other items.
The Warren Collection is located in a closed collection. If you would like to see something listed in the table of contents column to the left, let a staff member know and it will be retrieved for you.
The T. Taylor Warren Collection is shelved in the Closed Collection on shelf 22B.
NOTE: Warren did his photographic work "for hire," as an employee of NASCAR or a specific track, so Appalachian State University does not own the intellectual property rights to the images. They may not be loaded on the Internet or published without securing permission from the track or NASCAR.
