The U.S. Geological Survey publishes a number of series, such as USGS Bulletins, Professional Papers, Water Supply Papers, etc. They may be available electronically or in paper or microfom in Belk Library. Use this guide to find them.
Available in Belk Library
Some individual USGS publications are cataloged; many are not. First, check the author or title or key words in the Library catalog. If there is a record for the publication, use the classification number in the record to find it or click on the link if it is an electronic version. If you know the series number of a publication that is not listed in the Library catalog, such as Bulletin 587, go to the government documents collection on the lower level of Belk Library (near the University Writing Center) and look under the classification number indicated in the list below. The publications are arranged on the shelf by number (ie, USGS Bulletin 275 will sit under call number I19.3: between bulletins 274 and 276).
