National Library Workers Day
"While we cannot have in-person celebrations, it is still a good time to highlight the critical role library workers play in keeping our libraries running. How about taking our celebrations online? Let’s take this time to flood social media (using the hashtag #NLWD21) with words of gratitude for all library workers. We can start by nominating library workers as Stars for the ALA-APA Galaxy of Stars."

National Library Outreach Day
"National Library Outreach Day (formerly National Bookmobile Day) celebrates library outreach and the dedicated library professionals who are meeting their patrons where they are. Whether it's a bookmobile stop at the local elementary school, services provided to community homes, or library pop-ups at community gatherings, these services are essential to the community. Each year, National Library Outreach Day is celebrated on the Wednesday of National Library Week. In 2021, National Library Outreach Day will be Wednesday, April 7.

National Library Outreach Day is an opportunity for library advocates to make their support known—through thanking library staff, writing a letter or e-mail to their libraries, or voicing their support to community leaders."

"As a part of National Library Week and ALA's ongoing advocacy work, we are reaching out to ALA advocates and encouraging them to share their library story. ALA wants to highlight what you have to say, along with the incredible work you do, in a short video or photo during National Library Week 2020 and beyond. If you have 5 minutes to spare, tell us: How does your library help make your community stronger? Once you have your answer ready, post to Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook and say it loud and clear: #LibrariesStrong"

Natalie Portman is 2021 National Library Week Honorary Chair
"Actress, author, and activist Natalie Portman is lending her star power to shine a spotlight on our nation’s libraries as the honorary chair of National Library Week 2021. She will help highlight the essential role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in serving their communities, especially during challenging times.

Portman is an Academy Award-winning actress, director, producer, and activist whose credits include “Black Swan,” “Jackie,” and the upcoming “Thor: Love and Thunder.” A lifelong fan of books, she shares the books she’s reading on her Instagram feed, as part of Natalie Portman's Book Club, using the hashtag #whatnatreads. Born in Jerusalem, Israel, she is a graduate of Harvard University, and now lives with her family in Los Angeles. Natalie Portman’s “Fables” is her debut picture book."
