An excellent resource for finding movies held by the ASU Library in languages other than English is the Films help page. This site allows the patron to search for movies (DVD or VHS) and streaming videos by title, author/creator, or keyword, as well as supplies lists of all films in specific languages (original version and dubbed).
All DVDs are available for browsing in open shelving on the Lower Level. Popular films are arranged by language under the call number PN1997.
Music is one of the most accessible ways to appreciate other cultures. Since the introduction of world music studies more than ten years ago, as well as the hiring of a faculty ethnomusicologist by the School of Music, the Music Library has been actively pursuing materials relating to the music of other cultures. Below are streaming audio resources added by the library.
Proclaiming itself as the “ultimate guide to the world”, Global Road Warrior is a provider of information, education, and resources in the fields of international trade, business, logistics, country, cultural, map, and geography.
The Global Trunk Collection, available for check out from the Instructional Materials Center, includes 120 books and audio-visual materials as well as seventeen large box kits containing hundreds of cultural artifacts from around the world. The trunks are appropriate for K-12 classrooms and other settings, and they are an example of the support of the QEP at Belk Library.
