Searching a Library Catalog
The Library catalog provides access to the combined library holdings of Appalachian State University, University of North Carolina-Asheville, and Western Carolina University. Search the Classic catalog to find books, journal titles, and other materials on various aspects of masks and masquerade performance around the world. Often, a successful search strategy uses both keyword searching and subject searching:
Conduct a keyword search to find materials on your topic.
Examine the list of materials to locate items whose content seems to match your topic.
Once you have identified an item(s), look at the subject field to explore subject heading(s) that best matche(s) your research topic.
Conduct a new search for material on your topic. This time, select subject search and use any of the subject headings that looked promising.

Borrow, Renew, Request
There are two ways to request materials not owned by Appalachian State University. The links below provide information on each service.
Use this service to request items available at WCU or UNCA. ABC Express can have books or journals delivered within three days. ABC materials are delivered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and may be picked-up at the Library Service Desk.
Use Interlibrary Loan to request items not held at ASU,UNCA, or WCU. First Time users must create an account.
Make requests online through ILLiad.
It takes anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks to receive materials through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). Please consider this before ordering. To avoid delays, provide complete citation information for the materials requested.
