This guide provides information about Raphael Holinshed and his historical text, The Chronicles of England, Scotland, and Ireland (1577).
Often called Holinshed's Chronicles, William Shakepeare used the second edition (1587) as his source for his history plays (i.e., Richard III) and two of his tragedies, Macbeth and King Lear.
The Library has the second edition in Special Collections (4th Floor), and it is available for use in the Cratis Williams Reading Room inside Special Collections.
