Throughout the school year, the Office of Multicultural Student Development sponsors many programs and special events. These programs highlight the diverse cultures that are present at Appalachian, and serve as an educational tool to inform students and members of the community about different perspectives, cultures and social issues.
INTAPP promotes study abroad, international recruitment to ASU, leadership, international travel, study abroad alumni involvement, and North Carolina secondary school students’ interest in the world and its people.
The mission of internationalization efforts at Appalachian is to develop awareness, knowledge, appreciation, and respect of cultural differences in both domestic and international contexts in its students, faculty, staff and the surrounding communities.
Students who want to expand their experience of global community and the customs, cultures, and languages of peoples from around the globe are encouraged to join this unique shared academic experience.
Multicultural Student Development aspires to offer leadership, advocacy and serve as a resource to all Appalachian State University constituents and residents of Northwest North Carolina in matters concerning diversity.
